About the Photo

Color Version

B&W version

We recently had a short trip to Yosemite and very much enjoyed the powerful Merced cascades. This time we made for the first time color and B&W photos from the same raw files. We find that this shots works very well in both color and B&W mainly because the color version is dominated by very subtle colors.

The photo was taken with our Canon 1Ds and the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens at a shutter speed of about 1/2 second (which we find a good speed for showing a smooth water flow).

The print is made on Epson Archival Matte paper (13x19") with our Epson 7600 (using the matte black ink, standard Epsond drivers and own custom profiles).

B&W

For creating B&W photos from our digital raw files we use a workflow that we have published here. This means the B&W photo is not the simple conversion of the the color photo seen above.

The print is made on Epson Archival Matte paper (13x19") with our Epson 7600 (using the matte black ink and ImagePrint 5.5 RIP for metamerism free B&W).

The print will be signed on the paper (not matted or framed).
