Top News: Apple announces Final Cut Pro X

Some FCP X headlines:
- Rebuilt from ground up
- Fully Color Manages
- 64 bit
- Focus on image quality
- Render dialog is gone (background rendering)
- Up to 4K formats
- Auto color balance, non-destructive
- Rolling shutter fixes during import
- Metadata attached to time ranges
- Smart collections (will need to learn more later)
- "Compound Clips": collapse chunks of media into a single clip on the timeline.
- Auto-syncing audio waveforms
- Ken Burns Effect (from iMovie)
- Automatic people and shot detection
- Functionality of Color and Motion seems to get integrated into FCP X (all or some ?)
Price: $299 for full version in the Mac App Store
Release: June
We are using Final Cut 7 now and plan to upgrade as soon as the new system arrives.

NAB 2011 Live Web Show by Teradek
Panasonic

At NAB 2010 the AF100 was just a wood block and now it is shipping since December 2010. We own one and have our diary up here.
Sony

This camera is not released yet. It seems to use the Sony E3 sensor and features Sony's new E-Mount (like the Sony NEX-5). This is clearly a competitor to the Panasonic AF100. Here is a first note by Philip Bloom on the FS100E.

- The Red Epic gets a lot of attention but is clearly beyond our scope (price wise)
