The Nikon D3x was rumored for a long time and now it is announced for real.
Nikon D3x
- 24.5 MP full frame CMOS sensor (5.49 micron pixels)
- 10.5 MP DX crop mode (we think this is a very nice feature)
- 14 bit
- ISO 100-1600 (plus extensions)
- 3" display (920,000 pixels)
- 5 fps (7 fps in DX crop mode). This seems to be true for 12-bit only, means the fps are slower at 14-bits.
- Dual CF card slots
- AF 51 point
- Live View
- Estimated street price for body only $7,999 (body only)
- No video capture
- No sensor cleaning
- Available in December 2008

Comment
We are a bit surprised about the price. Yes, it is the same price as the Canon 1Ds Mark III but we have now also in the market the Canon 5D Mark II (about $2,700) and Sony Alpha 900 (about $3,000) with similar resolution.
- On the other side if Nikon manages to get the lowest noise of all these >20MP cameras it maybe a totally different story.
- We also can't wait to try the excellent AFS 14-24 lens on the new D3x.
We hope to get a review sample soon. |
